In 1916, the same year this was published, The Boston Globe dubbed Provincetown the “biggest art colony in the world,” as painters, poets and playwrights like Eugene O’Neill flocked to this welcoming seaside enclave. Art schools and galleries flourished, annual exhibitions become a staple of the summer social calendar, and arts associations and clubs gathered rosters of talent from across the globe.
